I’ve been teaching languages for over four years now, and after all this time switching from English to Spanish, while also having the most diverse aga-range of students, I am certain that one of the most satisfying feelings is witnessing how the world opens up for them once the language clicks. Seeing their eyes lighten up when they say things correctly and can fully express who they are in another language is extremely touching. But what I definitely enjoy the most is being close to their stories and narratives. Using the classroom as a device to vent, bond, and connect has to be the biggest achievement. Of course, this all comes down to language, it is what morphs experiences and makes them all real. I would have never been able to value teaching so much if it wasn't for what languages and communication allow.
